Gurumurthy Kalyanaram, Former Dean & Former NYIT and UT Dallas professor - With regard to civil disputes, individuals file lawsuits against each other and the courts adjudicate the dispute. The procedure is the same all over the world, except that in US the dispute is resolved by a jury of peers and in India it is done by a judge. Gurumurthy Kalyanaram Lawsuit
With regard to criminal complaints, individuals cannot files lawsuits. The jurisdiction lies with the State. Individuals can file a complaint or a report, and the State will decide whether to file a criminal complaint/lawsuit or not against an individual or a group or an organization. That’s so, be it US or India.

Gurumurthy Kalyanaram Reports on MIT's discovery of a device that may replace injecction-needles
Gurumurthy Kalyanaram - We may soon be able to avoid prickly and painful needles to inject
medicines -- thanks to discovery by MIT scientists and engineers. MIT
researchers have developed a robust device that delivers a tiny,
high-pressure jet of medicine through the skin without the use of a
hypodermic needle. It appears that the device can be programmed to
deliver a range of doses to various depths — an improvement over similar
jet-injection systems that are now commercially available.
According to MIT announcement, "The researchers say that among other benefits, the technology may help reduce the potential for needle-stick injuries; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that hospital-based health care workers accidentally prick themselves with needles 385,000 times each year. A needleless device may also help improve compliance among patients who might otherwise avoid the discomfort of regularly injecting themselves with drugs such as insulin" Gurumurthy Kalyanaram Lawsuit

Gurumurthy Kalyanarm Reports: Professor Suresh Mony's Essay on Research Productivity in India
Gurumurthy Kalyanaram - We often hear this lament in academic, educational and governmental circles that “Research standards in India are poor” and that unless we improve the research culture, we will be not able to be on par with the advanced nations. The best of our universities do hardly any research which is reflected in the fact that there is no Indian institution in the top 200. Rather than mouth inane explanations, a dispassionate analysis of research output bench marked with the leading nations would be in order.

Gurumurthy Kalyanaram on the power of masscommunication through social media -- recent case studies of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria, India and Russia
Gurumurthy Kalyanaram - The recent visible and vibrant, large and peaceful protests in Russia against alleged fraud in the parliamentary elections on December 4th has surprised everyone. The protesters, while peaceful and friendly, were pretty harsh on Vladmir Putin; the Russian Television presented the protests in a neutral fashion including the harsh comments of thr protesters; the protesters and the police were friendly.
There was no hint of these protests. It was somewhat impetuous. This was possible because social media --facebook, google+ -- were the platform for mass communication. So, the communication was easy, instantaneous and accessible. Gurumurthy Kalyanaram NYIT
The Russian demonstrations are only recent evidence of the power of mass communication of social media. Such mass communication through social media was the cause of the middle-east political revolution began in Tunisia, then to Egypt, Libya and now to Syria. Gurumurthy Kalyanaram NYIT

Gurumurthy Kalyanaram on Why Indian Business Schools should purse global professional accreditations?
Gurumurthy Kalyanaram - For many reasons, MBA programs in India should consider global professional accreditations. There are two gold-standards in accreditation of MBA programs. They are AACSB and EFMD. AASCB is The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, and it is located in Tampa, Florida. EFMD is the European Foundation for Management Development, and it is located in Brussels, Europe. The two bodies are dedicated (only) to supporting, improving, and furthering quality business education. They have evolved robust and well-accepted global standards and a peer-review based system to assess the aggregate quality of a business program. When a business program satisfies or exceeds the benchmarked thresholds, EFMD and AACSB accredit the said school with a quality certification.
Both the bodies offer different levels of accreditation, but accreditation reviews essentially involve self-evaluations, peer-reviews, committee-reviews, and the development of in-depth strategic plans. They also include reviews of a school's mission, faculty qualifications, and curricula. There are some distinctions between the two bodies in their emphasis. For example, AACSB places substantial emphasis on Assurance of Student Learning and Faculty Credentials. EFMD places large premium on internationalization of the curriculum and the educational experience. Gurumurthy Kalyanaram Lawsuit

Gurumurthy Kalyanaram on Consumer Reference Price and Purchase Decision
Gurumurthy Kalyanaram - Research shows that consumers carry an internal standard price against which they compare observed prices. This is generally called Reference Price. This internal price is an outcome of several factors including past purchase prices and prices learned through word-of-mouth and advertisment and other mechanisms.
The reference price forms the basis for comparison of current price offerings, and consumers assess the new prices as potential gains or losses. This assessement forms one of the important basis of purchase decision of a brand/product. Gurumurthy Kalyanaram Lawsuit

Human Mind: Perceptions, misperceptions, prejudices, stereo-types
Gurumurthy Kalyanaram - Unfortunately, once the human mind forms an opinion/perception it is difficult to dislodge that. That's how myths, prejudices and stereo-types are born and survive.
One of the persistent misinformation is that President Barack Obama is of Islamic faith. Of course, this is not true at all. But it has been impossible to complete disabuse the individuals and the society of this falsehood.
Brendan Nyhan, Jason Reifler, and their coauthors show in a recent study (The Effects of Semantics and Social Desirability in Correcting the Obama Muslim Myth) that mis-perceptions are stubborn and persistent.
